28 1/4in. nitro reproved Whitworth-steel chopperlump barrels with tapered file-cut top-rib, over barrel engraved 'JAMES WOODWARD & SONS. 64 ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON. S.W. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, Woodward, Evershed and Hill patent action, no. 4986 of 1913, with hold-open toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, (requires attention), gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best fine engraving of acanthus scrollwork and floral bouquets, the lockplates with the makers name in scrolling cartouches, the underside inscribed 'WOODWARD'S PATENT OVER AND UNDER', retaining much colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. well-figured stock (possible replacement), slim fore-end (wood replacement) with horn finial, weight 6lb. 5oz., in a lightweight leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed as a 'new type action' with 28 1/4in. barrels with file cut rib, on 28th July 1922 for a Mr Oliver Jennings
